It was so good, in fact, that after we checked it out, we felt we had the obligatory duty to pass it on. www.expatistan.com compares the cost of living around the world – based on user surveys to gather its data – and determines the costs between any two cities at a time.
Using Melbourne in Australia as a reference; to keep the same standard of living that would require AU$3,000 in Melbourne you would need to make AU$2,836 in Paris (surprisingly 5% cheaper). Or for example, you would need at least AU$4,790 in Tokyo to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with AU$3,600 in Melbourne (33% more expensive).
They’ve also constructed a cost of living index, listing the most expensive cities to live in around the world. Below is a list of the top 15:

The website only has the top 130 cities at the moment, but around the 130′s were a lot of Indian cities. Keep in mind though, no Asian countries were mentioned! Best to compare them one by one!
I’m not surprise about 2 swiss city in the top 10, when i was there it was so expensive!
